"With Bikram, I feel like I am getting as good of a workout or better than when I run 4-5 miles (my usual workout). I also feel calm and better able to deal with my hectic family (I have two girls under 5). I like the instructors because even though I am a beginner, I don't feel like one in your class. You explain the moves and make corrections (which, I feel, is so important if I am to improve). I like all the available times, and that the classes are not over capacity."—Ann-Marie

YogaSource Los Gatos offers a variety of heated and non-heated yoga classes tailored for all levels, interests and abilities of practice. From the Bikram sequence, known for the heated room it is practiced in to the physically challenging Flowing styles or the more meditative Yin yoga, you are sure to find a yoga class for you and because it is at YogaSource, you know it will be taught by the most expert teachers in the Bay Area.
Sometimes referred to as “hot yoga,” Bikram yoga is a 90 minute class held in a heated space (between 95 and 105°F) to relax the muscles, increase flexibility and detoxify the body. The consistent sequence of the 26 poses focuses on strenghtening and opening the spine, but also works all the muscles, ligaments and tendons in the body. Most students find their first Bikram class very challenging, however after only a few classes, the body becomes accustomed to the heat and the practice becomes addictively enjoyable. No previous experience necessary.
For beginners and advanced students only! Intermediate students think they know everything and are therefore not allowed. Foundations is the absolute perfect stepping stone into a Flow practice! Done at a slower pace, with no weird poses, all the teachers explore the same anatomical topic during that week, so that you can benefit from multiple perspectives from different experts. You will learn how to safely build the strength and with it, a solid foundation for an amazing practice. Not heated. No prior experience required.
vinyasa flow
The Western interpretation of the term Vinyasa has come to mean that a yoga class uses a sun-salutation based model, tying not only the poses themselves but also all the transitions between poses to the breath. Loosely inspired by the Ashtanga Series, our Vinyasa classes are not heated. More challenging than Foundations but less challenging than Power, this class is open to mixed levels.
Power offers an intense 90 minute class of exciting yoga poses in flowing transition. Cooler than Bikram but hotter than Vinyasa, Power continuously flows from pose to pose to the tune of cool music grooves, streghtening and opening areas of your body you didn't even know existed. We recommend experience with other Flow classes prior to taking Power.
Yin
A mellow class, challenging in a different way, conducted mainly on the floor with props, quiet music, and inspirational readings. A series of deeply opening yoga poses are held for very long periods of time, typically 3-5 minutes. Deep stretching of the connective tissues is achieved, while gently stimulating energy meridians throughout the body, and letting go of stress. Results of this practice are similar to those achieved by acupuncture treatments. It is a perfect cross train with the other more vigorous styles of yoga. It builds flexibility and concentration fast! Not heated. No prior experience necessary.
